SummaCare Benefit Plan (MEWA)
The Greater Akron Chamber and SummaCare have partnered to offer Northeast Ohio small businesses a health benefits program aimed at controlling costs. The Chamber Health Benefits Plan is a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA). This self-funded health insurance option allows employers with 50 or fewer employees to join together to share in the healthcare costs of their employees. By being part of a larger, self-funded pool, employers can receive potential savings and have financial protection against unexpected claims costs.
Businesses domiciled in the MEWA service area and a member in good standing with the Greater Akron Chamber or as a regional member through the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce are eligible to enroll.
The Chamber Health Benefits Plan offers:
• Competitive rates
• A variety of SummaCare PPO plan designs including HSA-compatible plans
• Multiple provider network and pharmacy plan options
• Comprehensive health and wellness services
Members of Lake Township Chamber of Commerce will also need to complete a Greater Akron Chamber (GAC) application at greaterakronchamber.org and pay a yearly GAC administrative $100 fee for the MEWA plan. Payment of the $100 fee gives the employer group all the benefits of a traditional GAC membership while maintaining a local presence with Lake Township Chamber of Commerce.
Employer groups that are members of Lake Township Chamber of Commerce must send in a GAC receipt for $100 that shows their GAC member ID and also proof of Lake Township Chamber of Commerce membership to SummaCare during enrollment.
SummaCare has been serving the needs of local employers for over 25 years and is proud to offer outstanding customer service and account management.
